Nursery Essentials

At Nursery Rhymes & Jabberwocky Pre-School, we believe that children thrive when they feel comfortable, confident, and prepared for the day ahead. That’s why we kindly ask all families to bring a few essential items to each session.

These small things make a big difference, they help your child settle in more easily, join in with all activities  and stay happy, safe and supported throughout the day.

🧳 Everyday Essentials

• A Coat (All Year Round)
  We go outside in all weathers! Whether it’s rain or shine, please ensure your child has a suitable coat so they can enjoy fresh air and outdoor play every day.
• Weather-Appropriate Clothing
  Your child will be busy playing, exploring and moving around, so we recommend dressing them in comfortable layers.
  • In cold weather, please include a hat, gloves and scarf.
  • In warm weather, pack a sun hat and apply sun cream before arrival.
• Spare Clothes
  We love messy and water play, it is how children learn best! Please pack at least two full changes of clothes (tops, bottoms, socks, underwear/nappies) so your child can stay clean and comfortable throughout the day.
• Toilet Training Supplies
  If your child is toilet training, please include plenty of extra pants or knickers, as well as spare socks, shoes, and trousers. We’ll support them with kindness and encouragement every step of the way.

🎒 Bags & Personal Belongings

• Nursery Backpack
  To keep things simple and tidy in our cloakrooms, each child is given their own purple rucksack to use at nursery. This has space for everything they will need, no need for large bags from home.
• No Outside Snacks or Food
  To keep all children safe, especially those with allergies, we do not allow outside food unless pre-agreed with the Nursery Manager. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
• Comforters
  We know some children find comfort in a familiar item. Soft toys, dummies, or blankets are welcome if they help your child feel settled. Please avoid bringing in other toys from home, as we cannot take responsibility for them.
• Nappies, Wipes & Creams
  Please ensure your child’s bag is stocked with everything they’ll need for the day, enough nappies, wipes, and any creams you use at home.
